International sales rights to King Cobra, Justin Kelly’s porn saga starring James Franco and Christian Slater, have been acquired by The Exchange, CEO Brian O’Shea announced today.
The Exchange – which represented Kelly’s first film I Am Michael – adds King Cobra to a Toronto film festival line-up that also includes new title Irreplaceable You.
“We are thrilled to be in business with Justin again” said O’Shea. “He is a filmmaker that is uniquely talented, able to take true life salacious stories, and create entertaining films that have global appeal.”
Kelly directs from his own screenplay, based on the Andrew E. Stoner-Peter A. Conway book “Cobra Killer: Gay Porn, Murder, and the Manhunt to Bring the Killers to Justice” about the 2007 murder of a gay porn producer (played by Slater) by two aspiring producers (Franco and Keegan Allen).
King Cobra is produced by Jordan Yale Levine of Yale Productions; Scott Levenson; Vince Jolivette and Franco of Rabbit Bandini Productions; and Shaun S. Sanghani of SSS Entertainment. In addition to Franco, Slater and Allen, the film stars Molly Ringwald, Alicia Silverstone and Garrett Clayton.
