CBGB celebrates one of the birthplaces of underground rock ‘n roll and punk music — the world renowned New York club, CBGB.  Hilly Kristal (RICKMAN) had an idea to open a world-class venue for Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB). When Kristal had difficulty booking country bands, he opened his doors to other kinds of rock music, but with one demand—they could only play original music, no top 40 or covers.  In supporting original artists, some of the most famous and influential musicians found a home on the stage of CBGB.  Hilly Kristal became known as the godfather of punk by taking a chance on such bands as Blondie, Television, Ramones, Talking Heads, Dead Boys and The Police. A talented ensemble of today’s hottest stars channel these rock legends in an engaging, hilarious, and wild biopic, which chronicles the creation of a music landmark and the birth of a musical movement.
