THE SPECTACULAR NOW follows high school senior Sutter Keely (TELLER) as he spends his days in a party-filled haze. He’s witty, charming, and wild. The life of the party and a budding alcoholic, he’s never far from his super sized, whisky-fortified 7UP cup. But after being dumped by his girlfriend (LARSON), Sutter gets drunk and wakes up on a lawn with Aimee Finicky (WOODLEY) hovering over him. She’s unlike any girl he’s ever met—shy, pensive, and weird—and Sutter is drawn to her innocence. As he slowly falls for her and their love blossoms, Sutter realizes he must confront his own demons to make this relationship last. Aimee is on track to leave their small town, and if Sutter wants to follow, he has to go from living in the now to thinking about the future. This true-to-life depiction of teenage angst crafts a brilliant coming of age tale that defies genre and shows what it takes to find true love.
