Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in the crime thriller “Men with No Fear,” with The Exchange coming on board to finance and sell worldwide territories at the European Film Market.

Spanish director Paco Cabezas will direct from his own script. Producers are Bryan Singer (“X-Men” series) and Jason Taylor, through their Bad Hat Harry Prods. banner.

“Men with No Fear” centers on Marty “The Mule” who’s been recently released from prison after being set up by his former boss, a smalltime crook who has gone on to become a ruthless drug kingpin — and also raised Marty’s son. Marty comes up with a plan to gather a gang of criminals to steal the kingpin’s money and win back the heart of the son who hates him.

The project could re-unite Cage and Cabezas, who teamed on indie action-thriller “Tokarev,” which was shot last year. In that project, Cage portrayed a former criminal in search of his daughter’s kidnappers.

The Exchange recently announced the acquisition of international rights to “Obvious Child,” which is being released in the U.S. by A24, and the upcoming “Ithaca,” starring Meg Ryan and Sam Shepard.
